A well preserved Wehrmacht Pioneer EM/NCO’s overseas cap; constructed of field-grey wool, with fold-down side and back panels with gently sloping, downward scallops toward the front. The crown and frontward facing sides feature well preserved silver/aluminum braiding. The front of the cap has a machine woven Army eagle, constructed of silvery threads with Wehrmacht green rayon backing. It also features a tri-colour (black-silver-red) bullion national cockade and a black Waffenfarbe soutache, indicating Pioneer branch of the Heer (Army). The interior of the cap is fully lined in olive-drab coloured rayon, with a leather forehead sweatband at the front section of the cap. It is marked by hand on right side of the interior. The cap measures 293 mm x 110 mm; evidence of mothing throughout the cap, but otherwise near very fine condition.
