An Extremely Fine Quality Wehrmacht Heer (Army) Officer’s Aiguillette

An aiguillette of such meticulous craftsmanship is a rare find. The chord itself is fabricated from very fine quality aluminum bullion wire, divided into three sections: the first section has a wonderfully thatched braid of multiple rows of loops with a thinly braided wire loop attached to the end of the braided portion. The braiding, which is extremely even and without visible flaws, is tightly wrapped around a soft fabric core, then braided around two guiding wires on each side of the braid. The second section has a shorter looped cord with a braided sliding adjustment knot, and the third section has a long braided cord, knotted onto the second cord using a standard knot. Extremely high quality manufacture in near mint condition, displaying very attractive patina.
