A textbook example of a very fine quality EM/NCO’s Kriegsmarine overseas cap; constructed of deep navy blue wool, with fold-down side and back panels with gently sloping, downward scallops towards the front. The center of the field cap features two Kriegsmarine insignias. One being a machine woven national eagle with stretched-out-wings, clutching onto an oak wreath with swastika in the center. It is woven in golden-yellow threads, on a navy rayon backer and a black rayon core. Directly below it is a tri-colour (black-white-red) cockade on a navy rayon backer and a black rayon core. The insignia is original to the cap and appears to be hand stitched to the cap. The interior of the cap is lined with a charcoal grey rayon liner, with a black maker stamp (illegible) and size stamp “54” on one of the sides. The cap measures 270 mm x 125 mm (folded). Very clean and complete example with only some very minor flaws to the outside liner due to age and wear. The insignia in the front center is slightly frayed. Overall better than fine condition.
