A 1943 Iron Cross 1st Class Award Document; Infantry Regiment 32

An award document for an Iron Cross 1st Class. It measures 139x202mm, extremely fine condition with some age discolouring and folding creases. The recipient is Gefreiter (Lance Corporal) Karl Hermann of the 2nd Company of Infantry Regiment 32. It is stamped and dated to “Im Felde” (in the field) on June 13, 1943. The signature is a facsimile by General Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel (1882–1946).

Footnote:The Infantry Regiment 32 fought in Poland and France before being redeployed for the attack on Russia. It was renamed to Grenadier Regiment 32 in late 1942, which interestingly is not mirrored on this document.
