A postcard showing a picture of Hubert Brinkforth. It measures 91x141mm, mint condition. It is signed in black ink. Brinkforth’s rank is given as Obergefreiter (Senior Lance Corporal), but he signed “Hubert Brinkforth, Unteroffizier” (NCO). The back of the card identifies the photographer as Photo-Hoffmann, Munich. It also states that reprinting is forbidden: “Nachdruck verboten”.
Footnote: Hubert Brinkforth (1916–1942) was the first enlisted soldier that received the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross on March 7, 1941. He won it for serving as a Gefreiter (Lance Corporal) and Pak gunner in the 14th Company (Panzerjäger) of the Infantry Regiment 25 during the Battle of France on May 27, 1940, when he destroyed nine enemy tanks in just 20 minutes.
