Length is 43cm, machine woven, of Danish manufacture, black rayon cufftitle with machine embroidered script: "Olaf Rye" in silver bullion. With nine white boarder threads on black rayon base, mint. Footnote: Olaf Rye; Born 1791 was a Norwegian-Danish military officer. He served as a major-general and played a decisive role in the 1849 Battle of Fredericia which broke the Schleswig-Holstein siege of the town. He died during this battle and is considered a Danish war hero. He is buried at the military Garrison Cemetery in Copenhagen. Provenance: This series of Schalburg Corps insignia were acquired from the estate of the late Karl Knobloch who passed away in Ontario, Canada in 2013. Knobloch served in the Schalburg Corps during the war and settled in Canada following a brief period in Argentina during the early 1950's. In addition to the insignia, an edition of Mein Kampf was found with these items and dedicated by Knobloch to his future wife Doris; dated 1943 - Kopenhagen.
