Item #G28033
Airmail envelope airship Graf Zeppelin, 16.5 x 9.3 cm. Date of item: 1929. Condition: excellent.
An envelope sent via airmail with the airship “Graf Zeppelin”. The airship’s stamp on the postage stamp carries the date of Sep 2nd, 1929. The postage stamp is worth 4 Reichsmark and identifies the route the airship took: America to Europe, part of the 1929 round trip around the world. It is addressed to a Mrs. A. Kummer in Cottbus, eastern Germany. The fact that it’s not addressed to Fr., but rather Mrs., is another indicator that it indeed was sent from America. On the back is another stamp from Friedrichshafen at Lake Constance (Bodensee) from Sep 4th, 1929. The envelope is sealed, but appears to be empty.
