A Wehrmacht Heer (Army) Issue German Cross in Gold; Cloth Version by Hermann Schmuck & Cie

A fina quality manufacture Wehrmacht Heer (Army) Issue German Cross in Gold (Deutsches kreuz in Gold); Stoffausführung/Cloth Version; hand embroidered example featuring a double-overlaid sunburst pattern with eight points, with the bottom outer layer of the cross in silver/aluminum bullion threads and the rest in brownish/gray cotton threading. The cross features a fire gilded stamped circular wreath impressed with oak leaves, ribbons, and the introduction year (1941 - note the classic die-flaw on the number 9). The inner and outer sides of the wreath feature a thin red intertwined cord, acting as a border around itl within the wreath is a densly embroidered black swastika (Hakenkreuz) with a silver/aluminum bullion outer border; all on a white rayon base; Wehrmacht issue on a Feldgrün/field gray wool backer, with the majority of the backing still intact - marked with the maker logo of “Hermann Schmuck & Cie” on the reverse; extremely fine condition.
