A Socialist Yugoslavian Order of Military Merit; 2nd Class with Gold Swords

Three-piece construction, silver gilt with red and green enamelled insignia, on an eight-pointed silver star base, unmarked but known to have been manufactured by Ikom of Zagreb, 66 mm x 66 mm, vertical pinback, contact marks evident on the reverse, near extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, inscribed "ORDEN ZA VOJNE ZASLUGE SA ZLATNIM MAČEVIMA" on the lid, slotted medal bed, wear on the exterior, case fine.

Footnote: The order was established on January 1, 1952 and awarded to commanding officers, who in times of peace, achieved success in the executions of their tasks in the unit they command or of military institutions, along with being awarded to the civilians who achieve results of significance for national defence. It may also be awarded to foreign military persons. It was awarded 24,141 times.
