New Zealand. A Territorial Service Medal to Captain W.J. Melville; 2nd NZ Mounted Rifles

(CAPT. W.J. MELVILLE. 2ND. N.Z.M.R.). Naming is impressed in large irregular capitals, the "D" on "2ND" double struck. Later cast silver type, reverse engraver marked "WRIGHT" below the bow, maker marked "W.J.D", marked with an anchor (made in BIrmingham), the British lion and date marked "R" (1966). Original ribbon, plated, light contact, very fine.

Footnote: 2nd Lieutenant W.J. Melville was an officer in charge of C Squadron, 2nd New Zealand Mounted Rifles, as of June 1915. He was later promoted to Captain.
