A Silver Grade Close Combat Clasp by Funcke & Brüninghaus of Lüdenscheid

A silver grade “Nahrkampfspange: in silvered tombac; with all of the original silver wash intact; intact magnetic square backing plate; horizontal slender, magnetic, banjo style pinback with a barrel hinge and a flat wire catch; signature to this maker is the upside-down maker mark “F & BL above the catch, as well as the die flaw between the maker mark and the back plate, the die-flaw appearing as a vertical line along the second set of rays, and the F & BL exclusive split in the scroll-work surrounding the central motive in all four corners; measuring 98.66 mm x 26.69 mm; weighing 31.6 grams; better than very fine condition.
