The NSDAP Golden Party badge “Goldene Ehrenzeichen der NSDAP” belonging to Austrian SA-Mann August Mathofer. It measures 30.52 mm in diameter, weighing 14.6 grams, to be worn on the standard service uniform, crafted in gilded tombac with well preserved red, white, and black enamels. The badge with a badge-type vertical straight rectangular pin with a barrel hinge and a flat wire catch. It is marked “Ges. Gesch.” (Gesetzlich Geschützt/Protected by Law), as well as his Party Member Number “86947” on the reverse. The Golden Party Badge is accompanied by a medal ribbon bar with three awards, a NSDAP Long Service Award for 15 Years of Service (2nd Class), a NSDAP Long Service Award for 10 Years (3rd Class); and an Austrian Commemorative Medal. The 15 Year Long Service (2nd Class) medal; a four-armed Maltesian cross in silvered bronze and dark blue enamels and sunshine rays in-between the arms; the obverse depicts a national eagle in the center surrounded by an oak wreath; the reverse with a center medallion inscribed “Treue für Führer und Volk/Loyalty for Führer and the People”; on loop for suspension; measuring 42.51 mm x 42.38 mm. The 10 Year Long Service (3rd Class) medal; a four-armed maltesian cross in bronzed zink with sunshine rays in-between the arms; the obverse depicts a national eagle in the center surrounded by an oak wreath; the reverse with “Treue für Führer und Volk/Loyalty for Führer and the People”; measuring 4.13 mm x 42.08 mm. The Commemorative Austrian Anschluss Medal for the annexation of Austria to the Third Reich (March 13, 1938); in silvered bronze; the obverse with a man holding a NSDAP flag standing on a podium bearing the national eagle, with the man assisting another man with a broken shackle on the right hand. On the reverse is the inscription “13. März 1938 (March 13, 1938), the date of the Anschluss, with the date surrounded by the words, “Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Führer/One People, One Empire, One Leader”; all with their period-original ribbons metal core with a horizontal pinback; measuring 31.97 mm in diameter - accompanied by a boutonniere; with three ribbons for the three awards, and attached to a black celluloid button. Also included here is a ring, in silver; depicting a blue enamel swastika, as well as a three rows of enamel, but with one row missing its enamels (it was likely red); small size (19.10 mm inside diameter). Overall extremely fine condition.

Footnote: According to NSDAP and SA records, August Mathofer was born on January 23, 1904 in Vorchdorf/Kreis Gmunden/Oberdonau. He entered the NSDAP on March 31, 1929, working as a Locksmith’s Aide, and residing on Gänsbacherstraße 6/2 in Innsbruck/Tirol (Austria) when the booklet was issued. He was married to Anna Sonn (born June 25, 1900 in Mühlen, Austria). Included here are also photocopies of the initial Golden Party Badge application form, the application itself, a forwarding document stating that the application is to be processed, as well as a document dated June 13, 1940, stating that August Mathofer is eligible to receive the Golden Party Badge.
