A Single Decal M35 Wehrmacht Helmet Named to Corporal Pfeiffer

A Single Decal M35 Wehrmacht Helmet Named to Corporal Pfeiffer of the 9th Administrative Company; A single decal Wehrmacht Heer (Army) steel helmet crafted of sheets of molybdenum steel (magnetic), and was originally painted with an apple green exterior with a matching interior colour. The helmet was subsequently field painted with a dark olive coarse green shade of paint on the interior and exterior. It features two riveted ventilator holes mounted on each side of the helmet’s shell, with the edges of the shell rolled over, thus creating a smooth edge along the helmet. The interior features an eight-panel chocolate-coloured leather liner, each with five stamped ventilation holes, and an additional hole at the tip for the drawstring. The drawstring is constructed of tan coloured twisted rayon. The two-piece chin strap is constructed of equally chocolate-coloured leather, and is repaired twice where the strap has ripped. It appears extensively worn. The underside of the skirt was once stamped, with the stampings illegible due to the helmet being repainted. It is marked in white “O. Gefreiter Pfeiffer” (Obergefreiter/Corporal) and “F.P. No. 39721” (Feldpostnummer/Field Post Number), attributing this helmet to a member of the 9. Wirtschaftskompanie/9th Administrative Company. The exterior of the helmet features an extremely well preserved Wehrmacht Heer Decal, that has developed even and very attractive golden patina. The top of the head is slightly cut off from when the helmet was painted. The opposite side shows remnants of the tricolour shield decal where the second coating of paint has rubbed off. The helmet measures 282 mm x 227 mm. The paint on the interior fully preserved, with some light scuff marks to the exterior, but without dents or holes. The liner is moderately well preserved, with two partially ripped panels, but the remaining six appearing only slightly worn. The chinstrap depicts moderate cracking from age, and was repaired twice where the strap has ripped. The frame remains firmly attached to the interior of the helmet via its three attachment clips. Overall near very fine condition.
