A Post War Signed Photo of Knight’s Cross Recipient SS-Oberscharführer Philipp Wild

Measuring 21 x 29.6 (photo 10.4 x 14.3) cm. Date of item: Period of Nazi Germany. Condition: excellent. A signed photo of SS-Oberscharführer Philipp Wild (1921–1999), recipient of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross. He was awarded the Knight’s Cross on Mar 21st, 1944 when commanding the 1st Company SS Panzer Division 11 “Hermann von Salza”, part of the 11th SS Volunteer Mechanized Infantry Division “Nordland”. This division fought in Estonia in 1944, retreating from Russia. Wild and his division were defending the Narva bridgehead.
