A Complete Second War Army (Heer) Canteen

Canteen is aluminum, oval-shaped, maker marked and date stamped "CFL42" (Heuel, Peter, Sägewerk, Olpe/Westfalen, 1942) on the neck, screw thread on the neck, curved on the reverse to allow for wearing around the waist, black plastic cap under a black plastic drinking cup, maker marked "F7" and "S" inside an insignia on the bottom of the cup, the canteen encased in a brown wool cover with four silvered magnetic metal snap closures on the right side, stamped in blue ink "CFL42" on the underside of the cover between the two snaps on the right side, in a leather harness with Y-shaped straps on both the front and back, along with straps on both sides, the straps linked via a common lateral strap around the circumference, the straps with four adjustable buckles, a large strap with aluminum hook stitched in place on the reverse strap for belt attachment, a second strap stitched in place underneath the reverse strap with an aluminum rivet at its end and attached to the the black plastic cap, the reverse strap wrapping around the top and securing the black plastic cup in place over the black plastic cap, complemented with a leather shoulder strap, 140 mm x 245 x 80 mm inclusive of its wool cover and plastic cup, touches of white paint on the brown wool cover, which itself is free of mothing, light crazing on the leather straps, extremely fine.
