A Large 1942 American Propaganda Poster: “This is Nazi brutality”

Item #W4570

$250
A propaganda poster entitled “This is Nazi brutality”. It measures 720x960mm, near mint condition. The picture was drawn by artist Ben Shahn (1898–1969), showing a handcuffed man with a sack over his head. It is a reaction to the Lidice massacre, during which all men of the Czech village were shot and the women and children sent to concentration camps. Footnote: The massacre was ordered by Hitler and Reichsführer SS Heinrich Himmler as a reprisal for the assassination of Reich Protector of Bohemia and Moravia, Reinhard Heydrich, in late spring of 1942.
