A Mint and Unissued Cased Pair of RLB Flak Crew Member’s Splinter Protection Glasses

This is a mint and unissued cased pair of RLB (Reichsluftschutzbund/National Air Protection League) Flak Crew Member’s Splinter Protection Glasses (Splitterschutzbrille); consisting of two eyepieces with untinted see-through celluloid plastic lenses with triple-punctured tops and bottoms for ventilation, with an independent flexible nosepiece and matching celluloid side guards. The glasses are held in place via a two-piece Luftwaffe grey coloured strap, consisting of partially elastic fabric, and cotton, as well as metal fittings for adjustment. The goggles peasure approximately 135 mm across when folded, and 70 mm x 80 mm folded. The glasses are accompanied by their original wax paper wrapping and a period-original textured paper case, stitched together with black twine; measuring 111 mm x 85 mm; top condition.
