An Early War 3rd Company 21st Infantry Regiment Photo Album

A one-of-a-kind photo album of the 3rd Company 21st Infantry Regiment. This photo album encompasses 100 photographs and portrays military service within the Wehrmacht’s 21st Infantry Division. This album has a total of 48 pages, with a blue cover embossed with a German Nazi flag, steel helmet, and 3. Kompanie I./Infanterie-Regiment 21 Nürnberg”. It has publisher information “Photo-Pippig, Grimma/Sa.” and copyright information “D.R.G.M (ges. Geschützt” on the inside of the front cover page. 26.7 cm x 19 cm; overall near very fine condition, with all pages present but some pictures missing from the collection. Footnote: The 21st (Bavarian) Infantry regiment was established out of the former Royal Bavarian Army from the former military district VII on January 1, 1921 as a 100,000 man army. On October 1, 1934, the regiment was attached to the Wehrmacht and retitled to Infantry Regiment Nürnberg. The soldiers were primarily armed with K98a carbines, as well as one MG 08/15 per twelve-member squads. The regiment saw active action throughout the European campaign but was dissolved on in June, 1942 due to heavy casualties. On October 15, 1942, the regiment was renamed to the Grenadier-Regiment 21.
