Silver with black and white enamels, with the arms of the cross and animals raised above the surface of the medal (the version used from 1892-1939 and 1949-1974), 36.8 mm, suspension consisting of three items in sterling silver: a bar with a circle in the centre housing the initials "CVM" flanked by ornate designs, a voided rectangular frame numbered "1105" and a two-piece insignia incorporating a crown bearing a star, which is marked "STERLING" with a pinback on the reverse, the three items linked via an original red ribbon, the suspension measuring 38 mm x 54.2 mm, chipping evident on two white enamelled arms on the cross on the badge, better than very fine.
