A Wehrmacht M42 Heer Stahlhelm

Item #G30871

$353
This is a fine very late second war German steel helmet. The helmet is crafted out of a single sheet of molybdenum steel (magnetic) with original dark apple-green paint on the interior and exterior of the helmet. It features stamped air vents and crude, non-rolled/crimped rim along the entire helmet, making this a signature M42 style helmet. The interior features a textbook eight-panel tan-coloured leather liner, each with five stamped ventilation holes, and an additional hole at the tip for the drawstring. The drawstring is constructed of embroidered white string, and appears to be original to the helmet. It is missing its chin strap, but with the original steel buckles for the strap firmly attached to the liner’s frame within the helmet. The underside of the skirt is stamped “KL66” with a double strike, and “539”. The liner features a faded stamp reading “58” for sizing, while the interior of the helmet is stamped at the dome, but sadly unlegible. The helmet measures 293 mm x 247 mm. The exterior coat of paint is overall very well preserved, with only minor paint worn off from limited wear and storage, and without major signs of rust. The frame remains firmly attached to the interior of the helmet via its three attachment clips, with the leather extremely well preserved, without strong sides of wear besides some light discolouration along the “sweat liner”. Overall near extremely fine condition.
