Two award certificates, one for an Infantry Assault Badge, measuring 148x209mm, very fine condition with folding creases, slight scuffing, and discolouration, and one for an Iron Cross 2nd Class, measuring 137x199mm, extremely fine condition with folding crease.
The Infantry Assault Badge was awarded to Medical Lance Corporal Alfred Grund of the Staff Company of Grenadier Regiment 347 on October 23, 1943. The document is signed in blue crayon by a Colonel and Regiment Commander, the name could be Blumle or similar.
The Iron Cross 2nd Class was awarded to Medical Corporal Alfred Grund of Grenadier Regiment 347 on September 2, 1943. The document is signed in blue ink by Lieutenant General and Commander of the 197th Division, Ehrenfried Boege (1889–1965), a recipient of the Knight’s Cross with Oak Leaves.
The Grenadier Regiment 347 as part of the 197th Division was stationed in Russia and in late 1943 was involved in heavy defensive battles against the Red Army.
