A near mint alternative de-nazified replacement version of a German Cross in Gold in top condition; multi-piece construction in silvered and gilded tombac; with a double-overlaid sunburst pattern with eight points; the centre with a denazified Iron Cross exhibiting an oak leaf cluster in place of the swastika (“Hakenkreuz”) with a stamped circular wreath impressed with oak leaves, ribbons, and the introduction year “1941”. The inner and outer sides of the wreath feature a thin red enameled line with a silver core in the middle; vertical pinback with four rivets on the reverse; measuring 63.75 mm x 63.64 mm; weighing 55.0 grams and exhibiting the manufacturing characteristics of by Steinhauer & Lück; in its case of issue; constructed of heavy pressed paper with a black faux leather (leatherette) exterior; lined interior lid with a recessed vertical slot for placement of the award; intact interior fabric hinge cover; severed exterior leatherette hinge; measuring 107 mm x 107 mm; in top condition.
