A textbook late war manufacture Kriegsmarine “Schnellboot Kriegsabzeichen” in silvered and gilded zink alloy; the obverse constructed of a gilded oak leaf wreath with a national eagle with spread-out wings on the top clutching a mobile swastika, and a ribbon on the bottom, with an E-Boat cutting through a series of waves, extending past the border of the badge; the reverse plain, with a vertical needle style pinback, sheet metal hinge, a flat wire catch; maker marked “RS” for “Robert Souval”; measuring 60.39 mm x 55.14 mm; weighing 39.6 grams; near extremely fine condition with 80% of its original gilding remaining.
