A fine quality manufacture Prussian House Order of Hohenzollern (Königlicher Hausorden von Hohenzollern); Knight’s Cross with Swords/Ritterkreuz mit Schwertern; in silver gilt and fine blue, green, black, and white enamels; with a fine crown suspension; cross pattée with arms in rounded ends with white-black white-alternating enamels; with gilded crossed swords and an oak leaf wreath between the arms; the obverse with a black enamelled eagle in a white enamel center medallion, surrounded by a blue enamelled ring circumscribed “Vom Fels zum Meer” (From the mountain to the ocean); the reverse with a white enamelled center medallion with the crown cypher, surrounded by a blue enamelled ring circumscribed “Den 18 Januar 1851” (The 18th January 1851); maker marked “W” for “Richard Wagner”, “937” for silver content, as well as royal silver hallmarks on the bottom arm; on a crown suspension with its period original ribbon; measuring 57.98 mm x 38.05 mm; weighing 24.3 grams; accompanied by its original case of issue; constructed of heavy pressed paper; with a lightly textured black faux leather (leatherette) exterior; lined interior lid with a recessed medal bed; functional spring catch with stud release and with an intact exterior leatherette hinge; measuring 87 mm x 66 mm; with its cardboard box marked “Ritterkreuz des Königlichen Hausordens von Hohenzollern - nur von dem Beliehenen zu öffnen”; overall extremely fine condition, with slightly worn gilt on the cross, as well as with a extremely small chip in the enamels above the letter “F”.
