A Luftwaffe Ground Assault Badge by Gustav Hermann Osang of Dresden

A fine textbook example of a Luftwaffe Ground Assault badge (“Erdkampfabzeichen”); in silvered and patinated feinzink; the obverse with a silvered oval oak leaf wreath with a ribbon on the bottom and a silvered tombac Luftwaffe eagle with outspread wings on the top, with a cloud towards the top and a lightning bolt striking the ground; the reverse plain with a single rivet; vertical needle style pinback with a barrel hinge and a flat wire catch; maker marked “G. H. Osang, Dresden” on the reverse; measuring 55.72 mm x 41.38 mm; weighing 30.2 grams; better than very fine condition.
