Silver frame, with iron core, magnetic, vaulted, maker marked with a "square" (unknown but possibly Carl Dillenius, Pforzheim), 41.7 mm, vertical pinback flanked by dual hooks, extremely high quality, exhibiting scattered black paint loss on the arms, better than very fine.
Footnote: This cross was a private purchase, the hooks having been added to ensure the award adhered snugly to the uniform: a very uncommon feature. Carl Dillenius, Pforzheim began supplying Iron Crosses in 1917, the "800" silver content only used to manufacture Iron Crosses during the period 1917-1918.(C:171)
