Silver frame, with iron core, magnetic, maker marked "AWS" within a coat-of-arms (A. Werner & Söhne, Berlin) on the screwback and marked "925" (silver) on the reverse of the cross, 43 mm, round portion of navy blue uniform material representative of the Imperial German Navy (Kaiserliche Marine) along with support plate and screwback, extremely high quality, extremely fine.

Footnote: This cross with a screwback design was a private purchase. A. Werner & Söhne, Berlin began supplying Iron Crosses in 1917, the "800" silver content only used to manufacture Iron Crosses during the period 1917-1918.(C:171)
