Silver frame, with iron core, magnetic, vaulted, manufactured by Paul Meybauer, Berlin, marked "500" (silver) on the support plate, marked "D.R.G.M." (Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster = patented), numbered "653146" and marked "800" (silver) on the screwback, 42.5 mm, vertical pinback, extremely high quality, better than extremely fine.
Footnote: This Iron Cross was a private purchase award. Paul Meybauer of Berlin only began supplying Iron Crosses in 1917; the "800" silver content was only used to manufacture Iron Crosses during the period 1917-1918.(C:171)
