A single-decal Kriegsmarine steel helmet, crafted out of a sheet of molybdenum steel (magnetic) with its dark textured paint on the interior and exterior of the helmet. It features riveted air vents and a neatly rolled/crimped rim along the entire helmet, making this a signature M35 style helmet. The interior features an eight-panel brown leather liner, each with five stamped ventilation holes, and an additional hole at the tip for the drawstring. The drawstring is constructed of braided cotton and appears original to the helmet. The chin strap is constructed of blackened leather, with its original metal hardware, and is securely fastened to the metal frame within the helmet. The underside of the helmet skirt is stamped “3962”, while it is stamped “ET64” for “Eisenhüttenwerke” manufacture on the interior of the helmet below the left ear. The right side of the helmet features a signature Kriegsmarine decal that is approximately 35% preserved. It measures 281 mm x 287 mm in total. The exterior paint appears worn, thus revealing its original apple-green paint underneath. The interior paint is overall very well preserved, without major scuffing. The liner is brittle and worn in select spots, with an even whitish hue from mildew that has formed over the years. Overall, this re-issued helmet is in better than fine condition.
