A textbook example of a third reich period German Feuerlöschwesen Verdienstkreuz; two piece construction in silvered bronze and white, and red enamels; the obverse with a white enameled cross with a medallion applique in the centre bearing a black enamelled mobile swastika with a band between the arms, inscribed “Für Verdienste im Feuerlöschwesen”; the reverse plain, but maker marked “Glaser & Sohn, Dresden”; with a pierced ball suspension and a mint period original ribbon; measuring 42.95 mm x 42.99 mm; weighing 17.8 grams. Accompanied by its original case of issue; constructed of textured black faux leather (leatherette); with a lined interior lid and a recessed medal bed; functional spring catch with stud release; fully intact fabric hinge cover; functional exterior metal hinge; measuring 69 mm x 60 mm; overall mint condition.
