The picture was drawn by illustrator Gino Boccasile (1901–1952). Early in life, he lost his left eye, but nevertheless became a successful artist. Boccasile was a supporter of Mussolini and the fascist idea. He drew propaganda material for the state and for the Italian SS Division, which he joined.
