A third reich period “Deutsches Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen”; in bronze; on a loop for suspension; with its period original shortened ribbon; the obverse with a crossed shovel and sword in the centre, and a concrete pillbox/bunker directly below, as well as with the German national eagle above, all within an oak leaf wreath; the reverse inscribed “Für Arbeit zum schutze Deutschlands” (For labour for the protection of Germany) within an oak wreath; measuring 45.22 mm x 32.80 mm; weighing 19.4 grams. Accompanied by its packet of issue; with a piece of paper glued to the obverse of the packet reading “Deutsches Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen” in black gothic script; the reverse maker marked “Friedrich Orth, Wien, 56”; measuring 106 mm x 59 mm; better than very fine condition.
