An untouched example of a second war German gold grade wound badge “Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold”; oval shaped gilt tombac; the obverse pebbled with a Stahlhelm featuring a large mobile swastika on its side superimposed on crossed swords within a wreath of laurel wreaths with a tied bow at the bottom; the reverse plain with a vertical needle style pin, sheet metal hinge, and a squared catch; measuring 43.79 mm x 36.29 mm; weighing 35.2 grams. Accompanied by its case of issue; constructed of cardstock; with a lightly textured black faux leather (leatherette) exterior; lined interior lid; slotted medal bed; fully intact interior fabric hinge cover; severed exterior leatherette hinge; measuring 69 mm x 70 mm; some greenish oxidation visible on the reverse of the wound badge; with 100% of the original gilt preserved on the obverse, and the gilt 95% preserved on the reverse; in overall near mint/mint condition.
