A textbook example of an early manufacture “Aufklärer” reconnaissance squadron clasp; in fire gilt tombac and the eagle's head in patinated tombac; the obverse with a central laurel wreath with a leftward facing eagle with a static swastika on the bottom of the wreath, and with nine oak leaves on either side of the wreath; horizontal tapered pinback, barrel hinge and round wire catch; measuring 75.85 mm x 25.50 mm; weighing 20.6 grams; with nearly 100% of the original gilt preserved; in near mint/mint condition.
