A German Kriegsmarine Destroyer War Badge by Josef Feix & Söhne

A mid-war period manufacture example of a Kriegsmarine Destroyer War badge “Zerstörerkriegsabzeichen”; silvered and gilded zink wreath of laurel leaves with a national eagle perched on the top of the badge clutching a swastika, and a side-view of a destroyer cutting through a wave, with the bow of the ship extending over the wreath; plain reverse, with a center catch for stabilization and a horizontal needle style pin with a crimped ball hinge and a crimped round wire catch; maker marked “JFS” for “Josef Feix & Söhne, Gablonz” on the reverse; measuring 54.10 mm x 46.02 mm; weighing 24.0 grams; with all of the silver-wash worn off, but with approximately 45% of the gilding intact; in overall better than fine condition.
