An “Eisernes Kreuz 1914 1. Klasse”; silver cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a white metal ribbed border; the obverse with a raised central “W”, with the re-institution date “1914” in raised numbering on the lower arm, and the royal crown on the upper arm; the reverse with a slender vertical banjo style pinback, marked “800” for silver content, and engraved “Lt. Puttlitz I.R. 129.”; measuring 43.19 mm x 43.08 mm; weighing 16.7 grams; approximately half of the black finish preserved; in overall near very fine condition. (C: 76)
