A third reich period German “Legion Condor” black grade wound badge “Verwundetenabzeichen”; oval shaped silvered zink (non-magnetic); the obverse pebbled with a Stahlhelm featuring a large mobile swastika on its side superimposed on crossed swords within a wreath of laurel wreaths with a tied bow at the bottom - of note are the exceptional details on the laurel leaves on the wreath; the reverse plain with a vertical needle style pin, sheet metal hinge, and a round wire catch (partially broken off); measuring 44.62 mm x 38.37 mm; weighing 8.0 grams. Accompanied by a case; constructed of heavy pressed paper, with a textured burgundy faux leather (leatherette) exterior; with a slotted medal bed; functional exterior metal hinge; measuring 68 mm x 68 mm; the reverse with a sticker reading “Hauptmünzamt Wien III”; a gently worn example; in overall extremely fine condition.
