Mexico; Grand Cross Type I: In silver gilt with light blue and red enamels, unmarked, measuring 61.2 mm x 62.3 mm, on its original full-length sash; accompanied by Breast Star in silver gilt with light blue and red enamels, unmarked, measuring 59.7 mm x 61.3 mm, vertical pinback flanked by dual prongs. Intact enamels, light contact on the reverse of both awards, extremely fine. Accompanied by their 8.8 mm rosette with metal button hole attachment, in their hardshelled case of issue, leather wrapped exterior, large heavily embossed Aztec eagle on the lid, a ribbon affixed on an angle to the padded inside lid inscribed with the maker mark "LA ESMERALDA MEXICO HAUSER ZIVY Y CIA. SUCS." with a graphic of their building, raised platform medal bed covered in hunter green corduroy with a raised hook for the Breast Star, dual ornate latch closure, light wear and soiling on the leather exterior, case better than very fine.Type I has pierced insignia, and is of much higher quality then later models, which are of solid construction, and is very scarce.
