A fine example of a Deutsche Verdienstmedaille mit Schwerter/Eagle Order Medal with Swords; silver medal (marked “935” on the edge of the medal, along with the crescent moon for silver content); the obverse of the medal with an outline of an Order of the German Eagle on the obverse, with swords separately applied to the top of the medal; on loop for suspension with its period ribbon featuring a sewn on horizontal pinback; maker marked “PR. Münze Berlin” on the coin edge; measuring 38.04 mm in diameter; weighing 24.36 grams; a fine example originally published in “International Militaria Collector” Volume 7, Number 2, on page 10. Accompanied by a case; constructed of heavy pressed paper, with a red faux leather (leatherette) exterior, embossed with a large golden national eagle on the outside of the lid; lined interior lid, embossed “Deutsche Verdienstmedaille” in golden lettering; black recessed medal bed; functional front spring catch with stud release; perfectly intact interior fabric hinge cover; functional exterior metal hinge; measuring 124 mm x 85 mm; attractive patina on the silver from age; overall near mint condition.
