A 1940 Model LDO Cased Silver Grade Wound Badge by C.F. Zimmermann

A second war German “Verwundetenabzeichen”; oval shaped silvered tombac; the obverse pebbled with a Stahlhelm in the centre featuring a large mobile swastika on its side superimposed on crossed swords within a wreath of laurel leaves with a tied bow at the bottom; the reverse plain with a vertical needle style pin, barrel hinge, and a slightly rounded wire catch; measuring 36.59 mm x 44.10 mm; weighing 34.6 grams. Accompanied by an LDO case; constructed of cardstock, with a red faux leather (leatherette) exterior; embossed “LDO” in silver lettering; the interior of the lid marked “L/52” for “C.F. Zimmermann, Pforzheim” in black ink; slotted medal bed; functional exterior metal hinge; measuring 68 mm x 68 mm; light wear to the obverse of the badge; in overall near extremely fine condition.
