"Bavaria. A Order of Military Merit Fourth Class with Swords by Weis & Co. A fine example of a Bavarian Order of Military Merit Fourth Class with Swords; silver Maltese cross with blue, white, and black enamels; the obverse with a central black enameled medallion bearing a silver crowned cipher of King Ludwig III within a white enameled border in the form of a buckled belt with silver letters reading “Merenti” (Latin - “Merit”); the reverse with a central black enameled medallion bearing a silver crowned Bavarian lion within a white enameled border in the form of a buckled belt with silver numbers reading “1866”; suspended from a horizontally pierced ball suspension - marked “950” for silver content, and “W.C” for Weis & Co. manufacture; with its period original 34 mm wide ribbon; with a paper tag attached reading “Bavaria Order of Military Merit III class for Mil Officials” on the reverse; measuring 40.73 mm (w) x 40.74 mm (h); weighing 26.8 grams (with its ribbon); with the blue enamels lightly flaked on the obverse of the right arm; the enamels otherwise well preserved, with only light contact marks, in overall near extremely fine condition."

He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
