"Egypt; English Made with Gold centres swords and crown, mounted to a silver gilt with red, white and blue enamelled base, 46.5 mm (w) x 43.5 mm (h), bar suspension with original ribbon, intact enamels, extremely fine. Footnote: The Order of the Military Star of Fouad I (Fu'ad I) (Nigam al-Askariyal al-Kawkab al-Fu'ad al-Awwal ) was founded December 6, 1919 by King Fouad I. A military decoration awarded in one class only, to officers of the military forces for services in the face of the enemy, for merit or for distinguished services in the field, ano wd where mentioned in despatches. Further services were recognized by the award of a bar. Modified and retained by the republic in late 1953."

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
