A grouping of two Hesse-Darmstadt Ernst Ludwig Archduke of Hessen medals, consisting of 1) A Ernst Ludwig Archduke of Hessen Civil Commemorative Medal; a circular white metal medal; the obverse with a leftward facing bust of Archduke Ernst Ludwig, circumscribed “Ernst Ludwig Grossherzog von Hessen”; the reverse inscribed “Für Tapferkeit” (For Bravery); on a replacement ribbon; measuring 33.32 mm in diameter; weighing 17.6 grams. 2) A Ernst Ludwig Archduke of Hessen Military Merit Medal; a circular silvered bronze medal; the obverse with a leftward facing bust of Archduke Ernst Ludwig, circumscribed “Ernst Ludwig Grossherzog von Hessen”; the reverse inscribed “Für Kriegsverdienst” (For Military Merit); on a replacement ribbon; measuring 33.31 mm in diameter; weighing 18.0 grams; slight loss to the silver finish from wear; in overall near extremely fine condition.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps.
