A 1918 Prussian Imperial Landsturm Document & Discharge Paper

 4 pages, measuring 84x144, better than very fine condition with some scuffing, a folding crease, and light discolouration. The Landsturmschein (Landsturmcertificate) is issued to Wilhelm Kumm, born March 24, 1886 in Duisburg (western Germany). It states that Kumm is drafted into the Landsturm for service without a weapon. It is dated to Duisburg on June 12, 1909.

The certificate contains a note, measuring 208x110mm, extremely fine condition with three folding creases. It is a discharge paper, stating that Kumm had not been drafted for military service during the (First) war. It is dated to Duisburg on November 30, 1918.

 

Footnote:The Landsturm was responsible for the military training and distribution of all men capable of military service who didn’t serve in the regular army. It was the last national military reserve, in other words the reserve of the reserve. It can be viewed as an irregular homeland militia.
