A Large 1780-1790 Medal of Honour and Merit by Johan Wirt " A fine example of a 1780-1790 issue Austrian Commemorative Medal of Honour and Merit (Erinnerungs-Ehren und Verdienstmedaille); a large circular silver medal; the obverse with a rightward facing bust of Emperor Joseph II, circumscribed “Joseph II Augustus”; the reverse with a globe, clouds, along with an all-seeing eye above, circumscribed “Virtute et Exemplo” (Latin - An example of might); maker marked “I. N. Wirt” for “Johann Nepomuk Wirt, Vienna”; on a broad loop for suspension from its period original ribbon; measuring 50.23 mm in diameter; weighing 51.4 grams with its ribbon; attractive old patina from age with minimal bruising; in overall better than very fine condition. "
