A superb quality manufacture 1896-1918 issue Order of Berthold the First Knight’s Cross with Swords (Orden Berthold des Ersten Ritterkreuz mit Schwertern); a gold Maltese cross in white enamels, ball finals and four crowns and crossed swords between the arms of the cross; the obverse with a center red enameled medallion bearing the royal crown, surrounded by a gold ring; the reverse with a red enameled center medallion bearing the royal monogram of Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig; suspended from a swivel crown suspension, with a horizontally pierced ball and loop for suspension; with its period original ribbon bearing a collector’s label; measuring 40.03 mm x 60.78 mm; weighing 17.5 grams; in near mint condition.
