(Albrechtskreuz). 1876-1909 Issue. A silver latin cross; the obverse with a central silver medallion depicting the rightward facing bust of Albrecht, circumscribed “Albertus Animosus” (Latin - Albrecht the Merciful); the reverse with a silver medallion depicting a crowned Saxon Coat of Arms, with the date “1850” directly below; on loop for suspension with a shortened period original ribbon; measuring 34.00 mm x 45.76 mm; weighing 14.8 grams. Accompanied by its case of issue; constructed of heavy pressed paper with a brown lightly textured faux leather (leatherette) exterior; the exterior of the lid embossed “A.K.” in gilt lettering; lined interior lid maker marked “G.A. Scharffenberg Goldarbeiter F.D. Kön. Sächs. Ordens-Kanzlei, Dresden, Seestr. 16.” in black lettering; functional clasp closure; loose hinge with the exterior hinge mostly detached from the case, slight separation of corner joints; measuring 62 mm x 107 mm; the lid of the case damaged; the case fragine; in overall better than very fine condition.
