Germany. A Kriegsmarine Submarine Badge

An example of a Kriegsmarine submarine badge; in gilt feinzink; the obverse in the form of a horizontal oval laurel wreath, with a national eagle placed on-top of the badge clutching a mobile swastika, and a submarine in the center of the badge; the reverse plain, with a vertical slender banjo style pinback (previously repaired), and a functional hinge/catch assembly; measuring 47.65 mm x 39.49 mm; weighing 21.9 grams; with approximately 40% of its original gilt finish remaining, in overall better than fine condition.
