Item #EG319
"France; A well preserved and impressive star with base in pleasingly toned silver, with scaled arms. Intricately applied gold cladding on a silver base of flag poles, bows and flags. Gold cladding affixed to silver base using four prongs per arm. Although the blue, red, and white enamelling is well executed and has remained well intact, there is some enamel loss to the upper flags. A finely detailed centre in gold with a dark patinated background which creates a pronounced centre bust of Henry IV. With a solid pin and catch assembly, the star was designed to be firmly secured to recipients tunic via two stays which remain firmly in place. With overall measurements of 77 mm (w) x 76 mm (h), the star exhibits a level of complexity and make that is uncommon for this type. Better than very fine condition. "
