1) An 1866-1914 issue Silver Bravery Medal Second Class on a Wartime ribbon with Clasp (Silberne Tapferkeitsmedaille II. Klasse), a round silver medal, the obverse depicting the rightward facing bust of Kaiser Karl, circumscribed by Latin script, the reverse inscribed “Der Tapferkeit” (German - For Bravery) within a laurel wreath, on loop for suspension from its period original wartime ribbon with clasp; measuring 31.55 mm in diameter, weighing 23.0 grams with its ribbon

2) A 1917 issue Bronze Bravery Medal on Wartime ribbon with Clasp (Bronzene Tapferkeitsmedaille), a round bronze medal, the the obverse depicting the rightward facing bust of Kaiser Karl, circumscribed by Latin script, the reverse inscribed “Fortitudini” (Latin - Bravery) within a wreath of laurel leaves, measuring 31.13 in diameter, weighing 19.9 grams with its ribbon.

3) A 1898 Issue Anniversary-Commemorative medal (Jubiläums-Erinnerungsmedaille), a silvered zink medal, the obverse with a rightward facing bust of Kaiser Franz Joseph circumscribed in latin script, the reverse inscribed “Signum Memoriae” (Latin - In Memory), on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon; measuring 34.11 mm in diameter, weighing 19.3 grams. All three medals are worn examples, in overall better than very fine condition.

 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
